TCTT goes to the movies! Joined by JB from The Broken Plane Podcast, we ventured out to Joy Cinema to see A*P*E, a 3-D quickie aimed at beating Dino De Laurentiis' big-budget and much-hyped remake of KING KONG to the screen.
Shot in South Korea on a budget of $23,000 in 14 days, this one doesn't quite measure up to the Jeff Bridges one, but does that one have King Kong flipping the camera off? No, I didn't think so. How many 3-D snakes are thrown at and knock over the camera in that one
We've begun quietly sharing thatwe're retiring the show after Ep100.
We love doing it, but the time demands for selecting guests & scheduling
recordings have become a bit too much. We should have hired an intern!
We're considering Ep85-100 our final "season" and looking
forward to going out with a bang. We’ll be giving away some goodies, printing a
small batch of shirts for guest gifts, and taking movie requests.

It's been a wile ride slogging through and riffing on this obscure Texas drive-in movie. I had a great time doing it but am definitely looking forward to another one soon with some friends to help carry the weight. I'm just happy I could prove Joe wrong. It WAS riffable. In your face, Joe!

Matt is joined by Kincher brothers Joe and Travis to discuss 1979's THE PSYCHOTRONIC MAN. It was the end of a long week and we'd had some technical difficulties and cocktails, so steel yourself for some rambling and salty talk about Rocky Foscoe, Chicago barber and recipient of prescient and psychokinetic abilities. Even this amazing development doesn't make him seem like a real human being, but that doesn't matter. Matt is joined by Joe Kincher and Devin Bruce to discuss Brad F. Grinter & Veronica Lake's 1970 movie FLESH FEAST. Movie maverick Grinter was just about to make the greatest Thanksgiving anti-drug, Christian screed ever BLOOD FREAK, but he was still getting his directing chops up with a biker movie and this little number. Poor Veronica Lake thought this movie would be her comeback and financed this nonsense story wherein she plays Dr. Fredrick a woman on the verge of using light-treated maggots to rejuvenate old flesh, even the flesh of the most hated figure in all the 20th century...but, I've said to much. We here TCTT™ are very excited about offering you a movie with riffs à la the comedy brains of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax. We were so excited to get started, we picked a public domain movie, Bloody Pit of Hell, without checking to see if it had been done...it has.
Not to be discouraged, we decided to press on (without seeing the RT version) and treat this movie as a "pilot." The film should be available by the end of February. The thing is, we've had so much fun getting ready for it, we already know we want to do more. We're hoping to join the RiffTrax "iRiff" family and offer our second video through their site. So, without further ado, our next movie for download with riffs will be CATHY'S CURSE (a.k.a. Cauchemares), 1977.
And, following that, in the Spring, we'll riff the sexy Invasion of the Bee Girls!
Mike Vraney was a personal hero of mine. His company "Something Weird Video" released countless legendary movies that were previously unavailable commercially (which, in the pre-YouTube days, meant they were unavailable, period.)
Mike Vraney, founder of the Seattle-based exploitation boutique home video company Something Weird, has died
at the age of 56, following a long struggle with lung cancer. A true
friend to underground movie cultists and pop-culture history buffs
everywhere, Vraney worked as a teenage projectionist at drive-ins and
porno theaters, ran a comic-book store, and managed punk bands before

Hey, gang, we've got a little gap before our Thanksgiving episode (of course we're having a Thanksgiving episode! And trust me, it's not going to be Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, either, not by a long shot!). I thought I'd give the rest of the TCTT guys a break and try an experiment. I'll be doing a mini-episode all by my lonesome. I'll be reviewing this Larry Buchanan made-for-TV movie from 1969 that's plagued me for some time; I'll explain all on the episode.
Scott felt that Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror (it's just one night, by the way) didn't have enough rotting meat on its Italian bones to fill a whole podcast, so he requested a double feature with The Crater Lake Monster (1977), or, as Matt likes to call it, "The Cracker Lake Monster."
