WE HAVE BEEN REBORN!

Matt and Scott are joined by Matt's super-cool neighbor Justin to discuss THINGS (Canada, 1989). You can get the episode on iTunes or from here (right-click and Save As).
This movie would leave most casual viewers shivering, huddled in a blanket next to an ambulance, drinking tea or cocoa, so it was nice that Justin was not catatonic and was able to show us on the doll where this movie touched him. Mere words cannot describe this one, folks. It's a low-budget film made by horror fans, but beyond that, it's psychoactive psychotronica all the way. Plots are jettisoned, time has no meaning, porn stars deliver the news from another dimension...it must be seen to be believed.
Unfortunately, this movie is not available for free online (unless you really know how to look), but we wholeheartedly agreed this is worth the ticket price...plus, after you've seen it, you can show it to your friends and enjoy their reactions!

"This is Amber Lynn, coming to you live from the this-guy's-mom's-utility-room-in-the-basement studios."
Our hero, sort of...I guess?

This is how my wife found me in the garage after watching this movie.

A still from the interminable pulling-the-guy-up-to-the-bridge scene.

Next up: we have some '70s dreck for you featuring Tony Curtis & Burgess Meredith! It's the infamously bad The Manitou: A psychic's girlfriend finds out that a lump on her back is a growing reincarnation of a 400 year-old demonic Native American spirit.
Sounds fun, right?! Plus, it's from the director of the blaxploitation Exorcist rip-off Abby!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING w/ JACK & JILL

Matt's been weirdly obsessed with seeing this infamously terrible comedy since it was released. He took advantage of the fact that Thanksgiving is in the plot to make someone watch it with him. Scars add character, right? Download the episode through iTunes or here.

Yes, you will be looking at that face for 90 minutes.

Homelessness: If you can't beat the problem, make fun of the victims in your movie

NEXT UP: We watch an infamous Canadian film from 1989 THINGS.

DEMONWARP (1988)

Our DEMONWARP episode is now available on iTunes and via this link.
Poor Andy Dick...

Dude looks like he is SHREDDING a wicked solo right here.

The Inevitable Crossover Event...

The Bookhouse Boys (Matt & friends) came out of retirement to discuss the first book of Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy: Annihilation, with Scott. Download HERE.
Fans of weird fiction and Lovecraftian dread will dig this book that is creepy as all get-out and filled with eldritch horror.
Scott & I approve and agree: This book is most definitely COOL. Get yourself a print copy, e-book, or audio version here.

ALL-YOU-CAN-OGLE

October sorta got away from us here at TCTT...
Our new iRiff has been published, but Rifftrax is undergoing some site maintenance and the iRiff page is down indefinitely. A bummer, but we'll let you know when everything's up and running again.

Everyone's a comedian...except for this guy...SERIOUSLY
Remember when Joaquin was going to be a rapper?
Kyle couldn't join us for our movie, probably because of good karma, and Scott watched the wrong one (again), so I watched it solo and chatted with Scott about it. "It" is the 1962 "monster" nudie film House on Bare Mountain. You can get it here or on iTunes.

NEXT UP: George "Naked Gun movies" Kennedy stars in DEMONWARP: "A man and his daughter are attacked in the woods by what they believe is a Bigfoot-type creature. However, they soon begin to suspect that they may have stumbled onto a nest of aliens in a hidden spacecraft."

New Episode: ATTACK OF THE BEAST CREATURES!

It's been a whole month since we published an episode. If it makes you feel any better, we've been slaving away on the new Rifftrax iRiff, so we have most definitely NOT been idle. That should be out in the next few days. In the meantime, we chatted about Michael Stanley's '85 Attack of the Beast Creatures. What Jaws did for swimming at the beach this did for going on luxury cruise liners in 1920....I still shudder every time I book a trans-Atlantic cruise for '20. Brrrr......
Also, Scott talks a bit about the Siberian yeti attack of 1959 (I kept that bit in just for you all).

Get the episode on iTunes or HERE. (Right-click to save)

Seriously, how were these not the boy equivalent of Cabbage Patch Dolls when this was released? Oh, yeah, 'cause no one saw this...

This has Downton Abbey beat for lush period piece, right?

DEATH BED: THE BED THAT EATS

Scott couldn't join us this week, but Jason Farrell was there to fill his moccasins while we discussed the bewildering, lost '70s classic DEATH BED. This film was made over a period of years in the '70s and never widely released. It had its first official home video release in 2003. We had a blast with this at times sleazy, at times arty oddball. Get it on iTunes or here (right-click and 'save as').
"Would you rather have anatomy-class skeleton hands for hands or elbows for ears?"

"Hey, bed, you eat-uh my soldier, I break-uh you face!"

DAY of the DEAD II: CONTAGIUM

This 2005 unofficial sequel to Romero's Dead trilogy is potent stuff: first you'll cough, then your skin will peel off, then you'll feel what everyone else who has watched it feels - PAIN. We laughed ourselves silly talking about Thermoses and this inept non-zombie zombie film. Enjoy our hurting...we did.
Available on iTunes or from here (right-click & 'save-as').
We'd like to welcome our new listeners. Thanks for checking us out. If you're inclined, please leave a review on iTunes or mention us in your social media feeds. Thanks!
This is the international sign for "sorry for this horrible movie."

"Smell my fingers...what is that, hotdog?"

NEXT UP:
We watch the made-legendary-by-Patton-Oswalt DEATH BED: THE BED THAT EATS. Be here in 2 weeks!

Treasure of the Four Crowns

It's belated, but we are finally publishing our TREASURE OF THE FOUR CROWNS episode. Get it on iTunes or here (right-click and 'save as').

"This is me excited..."
Featuring the most random ending we've seen on the show...

Next up, we bravely enter the 21st century with the 2005 unauthorized sequel to Romero's Day of the Dead: Day of the Dead 2: Contagium.

EDIT: Scott was pretty sure the star (Tony Anthony) was Robert Romanus, the guy who played Mike Damone in Fast Times at Ridgemont High...who Matt kept referring to as Vic Damone! What do you think? Is Scott crazy? Tell us in the comments!!!

BOARDINGHOUSE

The Boardinghouse episode is now available. You can get it through iTunes or download it from HERE (right-click & 'save as'). Enjoy!
Jim is an unusual boss and his hobbies make performance reviews a little uncomfortable.
Lita Ford called...she wants her...everything back.

Next up is a little Italian cheese from the wave of Raiders of the Lost Ark rip-offs. This film was also made during the 3-D movie boom of the early '80s. We're watching it in 3-D and you can, too! What, you don't have RED/CYAN glasses? This manufacturer will send a free pair for the cost of a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) and a stamped envelope to send it in. FREE 3-D GLASSES!

Watch the movie in 3-D HERE
or in boring old 2-D HERE

Good Times in the Riff Factory

You ever wonder how your sausage was made? Here's a glimpse behind the curtain of our riffing magic: we use microphones, timecode, iPads, headphones, and 'puters to mate the wonderfully bad movies we watch with the jokes they engender. We hope you enjoy their demon spawn.

The Chooper'll Git Ya!

Kyle's back and just in time for a gem from psychotronic auteur Ray Dennis Steckler (doing business here as 'Wolfgang Schmidt' and 'Sven Christan'). Using friends and family and a budget of about $500, Steckler tells a tale of desolation, hopelessness, doom, and a pony named Peanuts. Carol Brandt (played by his then-wife Carolyn Brandt) returns home from...wherever she was...to claim her inheritance: a ranch house with a shack and a water tower. Trouble is, the house has a 150-year-old history of murder and a local businessman wants her to sell.
Download from iTunes or HERE. Enjoy!
I have to admit, I was picturing something a little more stately, Daddy.

I'm going for a James-Dean-in-"Giant" vibe...Is that coming across?

So, uh, I'm the Chooper. Yeah, I know...

Next up: We'll watch legendary SOV horror movie Boardinghouse!

HARD ROCK ZOMBIES

The new, belated episode is here. We missed Kyle, but we had a blast talking to our dear friend from the North, Devin Bruce. The Hard Rock Zombies episode is available through iTunes or here (right-click and 'save as').

Devin's other podcasts: Scotch & Comics -The Listmakers! Check them out!

Anything to get out of this movie, eh, bub?
Yeah. No witty caption is going to top the visual here.

The new iRiff is here!!!

It took a little longer than we expected, but the wait is, in our opinion, totally worth it. People talk about 'sophomore slumps,' we're thinking this is a 'sophomore slam'! You can get the riff HERE. We don't want to beg, but we would really appreciate feedback left on the Rifftrax site. We're going to put our cap back on our heads now. Thanks!

I'll see YOU at rifftrax.com!

Ep25: CONQUEST...UPDATE...and next

We discuss Lucio Fulci's wild & gory 1983 sword & sorcery film Conquest. You can get it on iTunes or download it from here (right-click and 'save as').

"Is this the right place for the H.R. Pufnstuf auditions?"

"Why so serious?"
"I'll be Fabio, you be Mick Jagger"

UPDATE: We have completed our iRiff of Invasion of the Bee Girls. We are putting the finishing touches on it and will be releasing it ASAP. Thanks for all the positive feedback on the preview.

NEXT UP: Kyle takes a break from the show so we'll be joined by Devin Bruce (comics, movie, and booze fan and all-around swell guy) to discuss HARD ROCK ZOMBIES.

O Canada...WTF?!

We discussed 1985's The Peanut Butter Solution, a warped and bizarre "family" film from our neighbors to the north. This is about a kid who got his hair scared off, so the ghosts of some winos he was nice to give him a recipe to make hair restorer...seriously. He overdoes it and becomes a hair-growing machine...then he gets kidnapped. It's weird. Oh, and Celine Dion sings on the soundtrack. Ugh.
You can get the episode on iTunes or download it directly here (right-click and 'save as').

"Apply diarrhea and spittoon-contents liberally directly to scalp"

NEXT UP:
We'll be watching the Italian godfather of gore Lucio Fulci's fantasy epic CONQUEST...a film that can't possibly live to its poster...or can it?

For Your (Compound) Eyes Only!

We did it! We riffed the HELL outta the '70s sex sci-fi movie The Invasion of the Bee Girls. We are putting a few finishing touches on it and it will available through Rifftrax in a week or so. We think you're really going to dig it. Here's a preview:

Here's a great article about the film including an interview with star William Smith!

Sunday, May 4, 2014

Next up: The Peanut Butter Solution

Scott picked this next film. It's one that's often cited as a favorite of the pre-Internet "I'm not crazy, I actually saw this movie. I swear it's real" days. Remember those?

Ep23 - The Gore Gore Girls

On our newest episode, Matt, Kyle, & Scott review 1972's The Gore Gore Girls, the story of a smug, effete criminologist who is paid to solve a series grisly murders and even grislier mutilations of exotic dancers. Skipping soundtracks, gratuitous "nudie" dancing, crude-yet-disturbing mutilations and wicked bad acting are the highlights, er, lowlights of this movie.

"What's most annoying about me: my pinky ring, my cane, or that fact I talk down to everyone....hmm, my simple girl?"

Enemy Gold...and next at bat!

We had way too much fun discussing Andy Sidaris' bullet-n-boob fest ENEMY GOLD. Please give it a listen and tell us what you think: Libsyn (Right-click to download). You can also find it on iTunes (P.S. we'd love for you to leave a review of the show there, too). Enjoy!
NOTE: We had an issue with our iTunes feed, but it has been corrected. The episode should be available there now, too.

"Becky, how do you expect to bust up a drug ring with all of those sleeves?!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up: Sir Herschell Gordon Lewis' (a.k.a. "The Godfather of Gore") 1972 splatter-sleaze delight THE GORE GORE GIRLS.

A word of warning, The Gore Gore Girls contains lots of crude violence. It's neither suitable for work or for watching with your family. The FX are juvenile, but still disturbing.

Thursday, April 3, 2014

Woohoo!

Our riff of Bloody Pit of Horror is currently the featured iRiff on Rifftrax! Thank you so much to those of you who have bought it. If you haven't picked it up yet, please do so. It's a mere $2.99 and successful iRiffers may be invited to riff with the Rifftrax gods themselves. Shameless plug over.

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

We've got an iRiff bee in our bonnet...

A bee that demands we make another movie riff or it will green-light a remake of The Swarm...
I think it's serious!
Matt, Kyle, & Joe are proud to announce the next video project in the works:
INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS
